Danny Koevermans and Danko Lazovic were on target as Huub Stevens' first game in charge of PSV ended in an 11-1 friendly win over local amateurs v.v. Gestel at Sportpark Dommeldal Zuid on Saturday night, with the two strikers each netting a hat trick.
Koevermans hat trick
Danny Koevermans opened the scoring for PSV after two minutes with a cool finish from Mike Zonneveld's pass. Andreas Isaksson, Jérémie Bréchet, Erik Pieters, 'Maza' Rodriguez, Stijn Wuytens and Nordin Amrabat, who all made their debut for PSV, produced a convincing performance. The opening stages were rather uneventful but Koevermans, again, doubled PSV's advantage after 28 minutes, when, left unmarked, he headed home Nordin Amrabat's perfect cross. The prolific striker scored a carbon copy goal three minutes later, completing his first hat trick of the season. This time Zonneveld provided the cross from the left flank. Huub Stevens was forced to take Jérémie Bréchet off after 32 minutes when the Frenchman had sustained an injury. Dirk Marcellis came off the bench to replace him.
Lazovic hat trick
Huub Stevens liked to see as many players as possible, so he made nine changes at half time. PSV piled up the pressure after the break. Mika Väyrynen saw a long-range effort hit the post and six minutes into the second half Danko Lazovic simply tapped home the fourth goal of the night from close range. Stijn Wuytens, who, just like Otman Bakkal, played the full 90 minutes, capped a fine display with a goal after 53 minutes. PSV did not take their feet off the pedal and Lazovic also completed a hat trick. His third goal of the night was a beauty. Bakkal turned provider and the Serb striker controlled the ball on his chest before rifling home a fierce shot. Väyrynen made it eight in the 69th minutes, after Lazovic had singled him out and five minutes later the Fin was on hand to slot home again. The hosts then had their finest moment when they scored a consolation goal after 78 minutes but PSV had the final word with Bakkal and Tommie van der Leegte completing the rout.
