Young PSV started the 2008/09 season with a 3-0 defeat, at home against Young N.E.C. Coaches Anton Janssen and Edwin de Wijs and their team played host to last season's Cup finalists at De Herdgang on Monday night. Young PSV did well during pre-season, but suffered an opening day defeat.
De Bock sent off
PSV dominated first-half proceedings and their forwards Yannick Rymenants and Reimond Manco in particular showed flashes of flair and class. Lars Hutten came close to scoring on the half-hour mark. The hosts were outclasses after the break, though. Rutger Worm evaded the offside trap and rounded keeper Ramos before coolly slotting home on 54 minutes. Veteran Patrick Pothuizen doubled the visitors' lead six minutes, heading home a free kick taken by Worm; 0-2. Moestafa El Kabir wrapped up the points for N.E.C. five minutes from time, just after substitute Jelle de Bock had committed a professional foul on El Kabir. Young PSV will be offered an opportunity to make amends for their poor start to the new campaign next Monday when they take on Young FC Utrecht.
