PSV bounced back to winning ways, cruising to an easy 3-0 win over De Graafschap, who hardly ever threatened at the Philips Stadium on Saturday night. Lazovic scored a double either side of the break and Afellay added a third goal after the break.
PSV, who faced a hectic schedule, with games against Sparta Rotterdam, Atlético Madrid, AZ, Yong PSV, FC Volendam and Liverpool, maintained their unbeaten spell in the Dutch league at the Philips Stadium and keeper Andreas Isaksson kept his third clean sheet in a row in Eindhoven, before several players will be away on international duty next week. PSV may have felt the fatigue following their mid-week clash at Anfield, but they coasted to a comfortable win all the same, as they enjoyed long spells in possession. De Graafschap had the first chance of the night, but failed to produce any goal threat in the remaining minutes. Lazovic opened his scoring account for PSV this season and Afellay is still PSV's leading scorer, after he scored his fourth goal in as many matches. Jan Kromkamp made his 250th appearance in Dutch Eredivisie football.
Lazovic goal
Ibrahim Afellay returned to the starting line-up as PSV played host to De Graafschap in their third game in eight days. Left back Erik Pieters was also handed a start. Huub Stevens played two in attack, with Amrabat partnering Lazovic and Dzsudzsák providing support. The PSV coach paired Marcellis and Salcido at the heart of his back four. De Graafschap had the first chance. Geert den Ouden got himself in a shooting position after a defensive slip by Salcido, but sent his effort wide. The hosts immediately replied with a terrific interchange of passes between Amrabat and Lazovic, while minutes later Afellay had a shot on goal. The deadlock was broken after fifteen minutes. Amrabat swept in a superb cross from the right wing and Lazovic scored his first goal of the season for PSV with a glancing header from close range. PSV continued to press forward and created several opportunities to double their lead. Dzsudzsák felt he should have had a penalty when Hese appeared to push him, but his appeal was waved away by referee Bossen. PSV went in search of a second goal in a one-sided game. They won a number of corners as De Graafschap were forced to defend deeply.
Lazovic and Afellay goals
At half time, Zonneveld came on as substitute for Pieters, who had picked a knock in the first half. PSV soon doubled their lead, when Lazovic was again on target again, two minutes into the second half. Marcellis played a great long ball and Amrabat delivered once again the assist for the Serb striker to slot home. One minute later, Lazovic played the ball into the path of Afellay, who forced a fingertip save out from keeper Heijblok. PSV put the result beyond doubt eleven minutes from time. Afellay set up a one-two combination with Koevermans, who had replaced Lazovic, and the Holland international took his season's tally to four goals: 3-0. Afellay was taken off and Stef Nijland left the bench to get some playing time. Amrabat hit the post in the closing stages. Several PSV players will jet off around the globe to represent their countries in World Cup qualifiers next week. PSV will return to league action in two weeks' time, on Saturday 18 October, when they travel to NAC Breda.
