Huub Stevens was satisfied his team had sealed all three points at the Philips Stadium on Saturday night with a 3-0 win over De Graafschap. But the PSV coach admitted that the second half was played at a low tempo. 'We did not create as many chances as we did against FC Volendam last week', he said at the post-match press conference.
Encounter sparked into life
'De Graafschap provided tough opposition', analysed Huub Stevens the game at the post-match press conference. 'We did not get many goal scoring opportunities, but yet we managed to score the crucial opener. We extended our lead straight after the break, but the second half was played at a low tempo. The encounter sparked into life when we had brought on Danny Koevermans as a substitute. He superbly combined with Afellay, setting up our third goal. I am satisfied my team have sealed all three points, but I must admit we did not create as many chances as we did against FC Volendam last week, for which De Graafschap deserve a compliment.'
Van Stee: 'We were outclassed'
De Graafschap coach Henk van Stee admitted PSV fully deserved the win. 'We have to be realistic. We knew we would face a tall task here. We hoped to survive the onslaught the first half hour and keep a clean sheet as long as possible. We were relieved we were only one goal down at half time. We made two substitutions after the break and attempted to fight ourselves back into the game when PSV did not play with a high tempo. But all in all, we were outclassed by a better team.'
