Today, Jan Kromkamp is to report for international duty in Noordwijk, where the Dutch team is preparing for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Iceland and Norway. The PSV right back has been called up as cover for Khalid Boulahrouz, who has withdrawn from the squad with an injury, and for Atlético defender John Heitinga, who has not recovered from his knee injury.
Three PSV players called up
28-year-old Kromkamp made his last appearance for the Oranje on 1 June 2006, when he played the first half in Holland's 1-1 draw with Australia. Kromkamp, capped eleven times for his country, was also included in the Holland squad for the World Cup 2006, but did not feature in Germany. He was sidelined with a severe knee injury for a long time, before he staged a successful comeback with the PSV reserves on 23 September. Ever since, he has played the full 90 minutes in the senior team's matches, including last week's Champions League clash with Liverpool. The Netherlands will play host to Iceland at the Rotterdam Kuip on Saturday, before they travel to Oslo to face Norway four days later. Holland coach Bert van Marwijk has included three PSV players in his squad: Ibrahim Afellay, Dirk Marcellis and Jan Kromkamp.
