PSV's next Champions League opponents Olympique Marseille climbed to second place in the Ligue 1 table after they recorded a 3-1 away win at FC Valenciennes on Sunday night. PSV play host to Olympique Marseille at the Philips Stadium on Wednesday.
Second place
Olympique Marseille earned a morale-boosting victory over lowly FC Valenciennes (seven points from nine matches) ahead of Wednesday night's UEFA Champions League clash with PSV. Bakari Koné gave Erik Gerets' team an early lead, while Hatem Ben Afra and substitute Charles Kabore were on target for Olympique after the break. Following their 3-1 victory and Olympique Lyon's 2-2 draw at home with Lille OSC, Olympique Marseille have climbed to second place in the Ligue 1 table. Olympique Lyon are on top with 20 points and Marseille have amassed 19 points. Group D's bottom two teams, PSV Eindhoven and Olympique de Marseille, who have already slipped to two defeats, will meet at the Philips Stadium on Wednesday on Matchday 3.
