After guiding his team to a deserved Champions League midweek win over Olympique Marseille, PSV coach Huub Stevens focused on Saturday's Eredivisie clash at the Philips Stadium against Roda JC during his weekly press briefing on Friday afternoon. 'It's going to be a very different game from the Olympique Marseille tie.'
'We haven't achieved anything yet'
At the weekly press briefing, PSV coach Huub Stevens expressed his delight at his team's victory on Wednesday before previewing Saturday's Eredivisie game with Roda JC. 'We have enjoyed a morale-boosting victory against a tactically strong and well-disciplined team that were keen to collect three points themselves. But it's no use looking back. We have put in a solid team display but actually we haven't achieved anything yet.' Stevens did not know if all the players had come through the midweek clash unscathed. 'We'll resume training this afternoon after the lads were given the Thursday off. Some of them may very well have picked up a few knocks, but after a victory the players usually feel the effects of the physical exertions less strongly than after a win!' PSV have no injury worries. Reimond Manco, who was ruled out of Wednesday's game due to illness, is feeling fine again, but Jan Kromkamp is doubtful for Saturday. 'We don't know yet if he is available. He may face a late fitness test before we take any decision.'
`'Roda JC are on the right track'
PSV face another tall task when they take on Roda JC on Saturday. Stevens started his coaching career at Roda JC and after spells at Schalke Hertha Berlin and Cologne, he returned to Roda in 2005. Saturday's visitors currently sit sixteenth in the table following a poor start to the new season. 'But Roda JC seem to be on the right track. They were close to claiming their first win, but conceded a late equaliser against sc Heerenveen on their last outing. So we have to be wary of the threat Roda may pose.' Roda JC beat PSV 4-2 in Eindhoven last season, which was the last time PSV slipped to a defeat at home in the domestic league. Stevens:' But it's not really relevant now as we are facing a completely different situation. I am sure Roda JC will want to pull off another big shock, so it's up to us to follow up on Wednesday's result against them.' PSV will train behind closed doors on Friday afternoon. Saturday's game kicks off at 8.45pm.
