Eric Addo did not score a great many goals in his career, but his opening goal in PSV's 2-0 win over ADO Den Haag on Tuesday may be labeled as a 'crucial' one. The defender showed great skills when he collected a superb pass from Otman Bakkal, who also put in an outstanding display, before coolly slotting home.
'I'm not struggling with confidence'
For along time, Addo seemed to be the only player to get his name on the score sheet until Bakkal made sure of victory with an injury-time goal. Addo was handed a surprise starting place in the centre of defence. The African crowned a solid defensive display with a superb goal.' I'm not struggling with confidence, although I don't make many appearances. Whenever I get a chance, I will always show the needed mentality', said Addo after Tuesday's game in Den Haag. 'The coach told me to be sharp, show concentration and keep focused on the task on hand. And that's what I did.'
Addo made his first start in the 2008/09 season and scored a superb goal after 57 minutes. He slipped the ball to Bakkal, burst into the box and collected a return pass with his right leg before unleashing a wonderful left-footed shot to beat keeper Zwinkels in the far corner.
