PSV will play their third game in eight days as they take on Willem II at the Philips Stadium on Saturday night. Huub Stevens said his side must build on Tuesday's win over ADO Den Haag. 'It was a morale-boosting win and I think we took a step in the right direction' said the PSV coach at the weekly press briefing at De Herdgang.
Team building
Stevens realises PSV face a hectic schedule the next few weeks. They entertain Willem II on Saturday, before they make the tough trip to Marseille to face Olympique in the fourth Champions League Group D match. Stevens cancelled both training sessions on Thursday as he felt his players needed rest. 'We organised some alternative activities. All the players made an orientation trip. It was an amazing experience and actually it was a great team-building exercise, which made a pleasant change', explained Huub Stevens. The PSV boss cannot choose from a fully-fit squad. He hopes that Jan Kromkamp, who underwent a fitness test on Thursday, will be able to join his team mates for full training on Friday afternoon. 'Zonneveld is doubtful, while Bas Roorda, Jérémie Bréchet and Nordin Amrabat are ruled out of Saturday's game.'
Confidence
Goals from Addo and Bakkal earned PSV three valuable points in Den Haag on Thursday night, but Stevens was not quite satisfied with his side's performance. 'Some things went well and we enjoyed a victory, which is the main thing. I was delighted with Eric Addo's opening goal. That was the way we want to play. It's a pity we didn't manage to score a second goal until the dying minute. ADO had some chances to draw level.' Stevens may make changes to his winning team. 'The Willem II game is different. The visitors are well-organised in defence. I expect them to defend deeply and find their prolific striker Frank Demouge with counter attacks.' Stevens does not consider resting players ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash with Olympique Marseille. 'We will field our best players. We chase three vital points at home. We feel confident, following Tuesday's win. It was a morale-boosting victory and I think we took a step in the right direction' concluded the PSV coach.
