Prior to the Friday afternoon behind closed doors training session, PSV coach Huub Stevens held his traditional press briefing. PSV will make a trip to Nijmegen on Saturday to face N.E.C. 'They have had a full week to prepare themselves for Saturday's clash, and may benefit from the careful preparations.'
Two behind closed doors training sessions
PSV trained on Friday behind closed doors for the second day in a row. 'I had a touch of flu yesterday and couldn't possible take charge. That's why we have decided to train today', said Stevens. 'The sessions were behind closed doors as the players will need to focused and undisturbed. We intend to make some tactical changes that we first discussed with the players. I know the fans don't like it, and I myself actually don't like to train behind closed doors, but we were keen to prepare well for Saturday's game.' PSV face N.E.C., who did not slip to defeat in Nijmegen against the Eindhoven outfit in the past two seasons. 'They are a good side and play attractive football. They build on last season's successes. Mario Been will obviously be wary of the threat we may pose, but we take them very seriously as well. They have had a full week to prepare themselves for Saturday's clash, and they may benefit from the careful preparations', said Stevens on Friday afternoon.
Amrabat en Bréchet are out
Some players are doubtful for Saturday. 'Otman Bakkal has a groin problem and Ibrahim Afellay picked up a knock during the Marseille game, but both players look set to be fit.' PSV will be without Nordin Amrabat and Jérémie Bréchet. The latter is recovering quicker than expected but the game comes too early for the French defender. 'He will get match practise with the reserves first before joining the first-team squad.' Stevens previewed the clash with N.E.C., but the PSV head coach also briefly analysed his team's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Marseille in the Champions League on Tuesday. 'We did not reward ourselves for our fine first-half display. We have made mistakes, but our players are entitled to making mistakes. Now it's up to us show improvement against N.E.C.' Kick off at the McDos Goffert Stadium in Nijmegen is at 6.45pm on Saturday night.
