Dirk Marcellis on Sunday pulled out of the Netherlands squad to face Sweden in an international friendly at the Amsterdam ArenA on Wednesday night. The defender sustained a hamstring injury during PSV's 4-1 defeat against Ajax on Sunday. Danny Koevermans has withdrawn from the Netherlands B squad. Stef Nijland has been called up to replace Koevermans.

Hamburger SV player Nigel de Jong has also pulled out of the Netherlands squad with a knee problem. PSV defender Dirk Marcellis picked up a hamstring injury during his side's 4-1 defeat against Ajax on Sunday and was replaced by Jason Culina in the 63rd minute. Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has added Mendes da Silva to his squad. The AZ player, who has been capped one time for his country, had originally received a call-up to the Netherlands B squad. 30-year-old Danny Koevermans has withdrawn from Johan Neeskens' Netherlands B squad for the international friendly with Young Sweden in Waalwijk on Wednesday with a 6pm kick-off, claiming personal reasons. Stef Nijland has been called up to replace Koevermans. The Oranje, with Ibrahim Afellay, take on Sweden, at the ArenA, also on Wednesday, with an 8.45pm kick off.
