Things went from bad to worse for Peru at the 2009 South American Under-20 Championships in Venezuela. After suffering defeat against Ecuador in the opening game, the team of PSV forward Reimond Manco were beaten 1-0 by Colombia in the second group match. Manco failed to make his mark.
Three teams will go through
The Colombians scored the only goal after 34 minutes. Hosts Venezuela drew 1-1 with Ecuador in the other group A match. Peru will be next in action on Friday when they face Argentina and will take on Venezuela on Sunday. Peru need to secure a top three finish in their group in order to progress to the next round. The six best teams from group A and B will go through.
