PSV's Marketing manager Peter Kentie wins another prize (PSV.nl)

PSV's Marketing & Media Manager Peter Kentie has won another marketing prize. The 49-year-old from Eindhoven was presented with the 'Best Social Marketeer 2009' award at trade event in Amsterdam, after he had recently been named Dutch Sport marketeer of the year 2008.
'Social media'
Kentie was presented with the award at the CSN Conference 2009, an event organised for marketers in Amsterdam on the latest development in Corporate Social Networking. The line of approach at the conference was to find out how companies and organisations can optimally utilize new media, communication tools and online networks. Blogs, YouTube, Twitter and other forms of 'online community' and 'social networking' are becoming increasingly popular. It is in fact an umbrella term for all internet applications that enable people to share information in a user friendly and often funny way. Not only information by way of news and articles but also sounds (podcasts, music) and images (photography, video) are shared. The visitors play a crucial role as they provide content (YouTube users upload videos and anybody is allowed to write articles for the WikiPedia online encyclopedia or edit them). The 'Best Social Marketeer 2009 award' would be presented to the person who had proved he or she had successfully applied these new media tools by means of a well thought out strategy.
Opportunities knock
Three people had been nominated for the Corporate Social Networking Award, and were invited to do a presentation. Peter Kentie made a speech in which he gave his viewpoints on PSV's strategy and summed up how the club is using cross medial tools to connect with different target groups. 'Every new medium technology offers an opportunity to create a new community', he said. It is the club's aim to connect with people from all ages, from 0 to 98 years. 'PSV is a strong brand with a large community.' The club's media department facilitates, among other things, the PSV Phoxy Club website and the Phoxy-Hyves network, manages cross-medial publications, including the well-visited PSV TV Online site, PSV TV content on YouTube and provides match alerts to mobile telephone and match reports on PSV.nl. 'Kentie is an active user of sociable media and has a long proven track record of being a blogger, organiser and marketeer. As initiator, strategist and executive, he is involved in using social media to connect PSV with fans of all ages. Peter aims at a lifelong relationship between PSV and its fans', said the jury in its report.
