The PSV first team squad was depleted at their two training sessions at de Herdgang training ground on Tuesday. Goalkeeper Gomes picked up a slight knee injury during the morning session. The Brazilian limped off the training pitch and went to the dressing room. After the doctor had examined his knee problem, it was announced that an irritated knee cap caused some pain, but, it was added, it was not a matter of great concern. Three players, who did not join their team mates for training, may make an appearance in tonight’s benefit game in Barcelona: Johann Vogel, Da Marcus Beasley and Ji-Sung Park. Young-Pyo Lee, the other South Korean in the service of the Eindhoven club, had been given a day off by the technical staff. John de Jong was another absentee. The midfielder was still troubled by a sore ankle, an injury that he picked up during yesterday’s training. De Jong hopes to be available on Saturday, when PSV play hosts to N.E.C., but he could not give a definitive answer as yet. Alex was not at De Herdgang, either. The Brazilian defender had stayed in bed at home, as he was ill.
