Chelsea have won the Carling Cup following a 3-2 win over Liverpool. Substitute Mateja Kezman scored the third goal of the London club in extra time.By winning the Carling Cup – also known as the League Cup - the team of coach José Mourinho have earned their first silverware of the season. Extra time was needed to get a result; the score was 1-1 after ninety minutes of exciting football. John Arne Riise put Liverpool ahead on only 45 seconds, but when Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard scored an own goal ten minutes from final time, Chelsea were back in the game. Manager Mourinho was shown a red card for taunting Liverpool fans. The Chelsea manager had put his fingers to his lips to hush the Liverpool fans. Didier Drogba and substitute Mateja Kezman scored two goals in extra time for Chelsea and Antonio Nunez pulled one back for Liverpool. Chelsea captain John Terry was named ‘Man of the Match’. Arjen Robben, who is recovering from an injury, saw his team mates win their first trophy. The former PSV forward hopes to be back in contention on 8 March, when Chelsea play their second Champions League knock-out round leg against Barcelona.
