The trophy cabinet of AC Milan star Cafu is filled to capacity. The AC Milan full right back won the World Cup on two occasions with Brazil and he won two World Cups during his spell at São Paulo. PSV Media talked to him.'Il pendolino'Whenever you see Marcos Evangelista de Moraes starting yet another run along the touchline, the question whether he may have as many as four lungs seems appropriate. Cafu, his football name, is a regular in the starting line-up of AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti. He will continually start runs along the right flank and deliver fine crosses for the Milan forwards. He fully deserves the fond nickname ‘Il pendolino’ that the fans have given him. 34-year-old Cafu hopes to make an impact as full right back once again in the Eindhoven Philips Stadium on Wednesday night.Strenuous seasonHis list of awards is quite impressive: he has won the Copa Libertadores, the South American equivalent of the Champions League, twice. He won the scudetto, the Italian title, with both Roma and AC Milan. He made an appearance in three World Cup finals in a row with 'the Divine Canaries', two of which he won. There is one trophy, though, that he has never lifted yet: the Champions League. Milan took a major step in the first leg to boost their efforts to reach the UEFA Championship final by claiming a 2-0 win at home against PSV. But the Brazilian defender does not feel his side has already made sure of a place in the final, following the 2-0 first leg win over the Eindhoven side. "We haven't wrapped up things yet. There is still one game to play in which we‘ll have to defend a slender lead. We’ll have to give our all."The defender wearing number two on the back of his shirt is not quite convinced his team will reach the final of the prestigious tournament. "We have had a long and strenuous season." Driven backIt is not done yet in Italy to openly talk about the trip to Istanbul, where the final will be staged. The 4-0 defeat they suffered at Deportivo La Coruña is still fresh in their minds. But obviously the genial veteran player is quite satisfied with the result in the first leg. "Who would not be delighted with a 2-0 win?" But it was never a simple game. Just like his team mates, Cafu was driven back in the second period and he was confronted with the attacking powers shown by the South Korean PSV player Lee. It was a clash the latter won on points.Full of praiseAlthough the final score of the first leg may suggest that AC Milan enjoyed a comfortable win, the Milan players admitted that they had a lucky escape against PSV, who bravely played attacking football in San Siro. All Milan players heaped praises on PSV and Cafu is also feels PSV deserve credit: "PSV are a great side. They put up a great performance in San Siro and showed why they deserve to have reached a semi final place. PSV controlled proceedings in the second half and passed the ball around very well. Fortunately we managed to score a crucial second goal in the closing stages, which was a huge relief for us."Text: Stijn Slaats / Translation: Frans Mantel.
