Dutch champions PSV have seen off Feyenoord 4-2 on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Mark van Bommel and Johann Vogel made their final appearance in the Eindhoven Philips Stadium and Ibrahim Afellay, who scored goals on either side of the break, was the man-of-the-match.Ibrahim AfellayHe must have been delighted with a place in the starting line-up, but Ibrahim Afellay met the high expectations by scoring a double and delivering an assist. The young midfield player, who had chosen to play international football for Holland, put up a prominent display and proved his skills during the Feyenoord game. The home crowd bade a fond farewell to Mark van Bommel and Johann Vogel. Both players have been in the service of PSV for six years, and they will surely remember their last season as the best. Five minutes from final time Vogel was brought on for Van Bommel, who left the pitch to a standing ovation. PSV took the leadVan Bommel had a nasty start to his farewell game. The PSV captain was cautioned after only two minutes’ play by referee Haverkort, because of which he will be suspended for the final fixture of the season, away against Roda JC. Afellay gave PSV the lead. The rookie midfielder was in the right place when keeper Babos failed to collect a Lee cross; 1-0. Soon afterwards Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink seemed to have doubled the advantage, but his goal did not stand as he was judged to have been off-side. Jan Vennegoor of HesselinkFeyenoord restored parity on 22 minutes, when Kalou found Kuyt. The Holland Casino Eredivisie top scorer fired a low shot that went home; 1-1. Afellay responded for PSV: he controlled a ball in the middle of the pitch and went all the way to Babos. He pretended to pass the ball to a team mate, but produced a shot himself that went agonizingly wide of the goal. Five minutes before half time PSV were on top again. Vennegoor of Hesselink was at the end of a well-worked move in which many PSV players were involved; 2-1.A great many goalsAfter the break it was still a lively and entertaining game and the crowd saw a great many goals. Feyenoord were soon on level terms. Kuyt entered the area and unleashed a powerful shot that went into the roof of the net: 2-2-. But again PSV did not need much time to take the lead for the third time this afternoon. Afellay turned provider for Van Bommel and the PSV captain crowned a good performance by coolly finishing; 3-2.And on 70 minutes it was Afellay time again. Ji-Sung Park set him up and Afellay put the icing on the cake by superbly curling home an astonishing twenty- yarder past Babos. PSV had sealed victory. Vogel came on to replace Van Bommel, after which the crowd could wave goodbye to both midfielders in an endearing way.
