A press conference was conducted on Thursday afternoon ahead of the Dutch Amstel Cup final in the Rotterdam Kuip. PSV head coach Guus Hiddink expects his players to go for it, when they meet Willem II on Sunday afternoon. We'll go for it"Compared to the Dutch title and the Champions League, the Dutch Amstel Cup is obviously not the most prestigious trophy, but we would very much like to win it anyway. It’s been a long time since we won the double", announced Hiddink in Rotterdam. "As most players have never won the cup before, I expect them to give their all." If PSV succeed in winning the Cup on Sunday, Hiddink will have won more trophies than any Dutch club coach.PSV captain Mark van Bommel, who will make his last appearance for PSV, was also present at the press conference. He referred to the 2001 cup final in which PSV were beaten on penalties by FC Twente. "We were favourites, but that does not imply we are bound to win. The position in the league table has nothing to do with playing a Dutch Amstel Cup Final." Willem II head coach Robert Maaskant paid tribute to PSV and referred to them as 'a wonderful side'. "They have mastered all aspects of the game. Their players are quick and strong. But we have gained self-confidence, following our two previous fine performances."An attendance of 35, 000 is expected. Fifteen thousand tickets have been sold to Willem II fans and PSV supporters have bought some five thousand tickets. If PSV succeed in winning the Cup, Gerald Sibon will equal a record set up by Jan Wouters, who won the Cup with three different clubs: Ajax, FC Utrecht and PSV. Sibon won the coveted trophy during his spell at Roda JC and Ajax.
