FC Eindhoven have officially presented a few new signings, among whom PSV players on loan Otman Bakkal and Jelle ten Rouwelaar, for next year’s campaign during a press conference in the Jan Louwers Stadium. Four PSV playersWhen the newly appointed head coach Louis Coolen had given an introduction, Frank Demouge (N.E.C.), Ilja van Leerdam (De Graafschap) and Theo Groeneveld (Vitesse) signed their contracts. Otman Bakkal and Jelle ten Rouwelaar were also behind the desk; the other two PSV players on loan, Sasa Stojanovic and Sepp de Roover, were still enjoying their holidays. All four PSV players will be on loan for one season. PSV Manager Football Affairs Stan Valckx represented PSV at the presentation. "We knew that we would have to do a lot of work, when we started the cooperation. PSV consider it an advantage that a number of players can develop themselves. We have taken a first step in the right direction." Respectabele squadLouis Coolen told about the problems he was facing in his attempts to create the current, pretty respectable squad. He said he was delighted to have signed the former PSV player Ilja van Leerdam, as he is an experienced player. He hopes that Demouge will be able to ply his trade in the Eredivisie again after having been with FC Eindhoven for one season and Coolen also explained that Groeneveld will be given a place in the heart of defence. He also referred to the cooperation with PSV. "We see it as a challenge to create the conditions for the players to make a move forward. It is of paramount importance for our cooperation to succeed in the first year."Coolen thought his squad was quite 'respectable'. "The main thing is to make a team where the players are willing to fight and work for each other. We must show, to quote Guus Hiddink, 'mental willingness'. Nike-shirtsAfter the contracts had been signed, a toast was proposed to the new FC Eindhoven signing, after which it was time for the photographers to do their jobs. The club showed the new Nike shirts for next season. When Otman Bakkal, who has recovered from an injury, put on his blue/white jersey, he said that the prospects in the Jan Louwers Stadium are bright. "I am quite sure I have made the right decision and I can hardly wait for the first training session next Monday. I was in a positive frame of mind following our first meeting. But at t the time I didn’t know what players would come and strengthen the squads. But now I do and I must say this is a rather nice team!" Albert van der Sleen will join the technical staff as goalkeeping coach.
