The PSV players did the traditional cross country run in the woody surroundings of the training ground this afternoon. Most of them were outside in the healthy fresh air for about an hour. Ibrahim AfellayAndré Ooijer remained inside; he was in the gym for an individual training. John de Jong had a custom-made training schedule as well; he was on the home trainer. Ibrahim Afellay, who will wear a shirt with #20 this season, was on the artificial pitch. The young midfielder was working hard to stage a comeback, under the supervision of physiotherapist Arno Philips. Afellay is recovering from an ankle injury that he sustained in a World Cup U20 clash. Red training kitThe other players of the squad were running in the wood, as they do on every first training session of the new campaign. They came out of the dressing room just after three o’ clock. They were split up into small groups, before they started their running. The coaches Fred Rutten, René Eijkelkamp and goalkeeping coach Joop Hiele joined the players. The players of the PSV first team squad will wear a red tracksuit during the training sessions, whereas they wore blue last season. Some players were absent. Phillip Cocu and Wilfred Bouma start training in a few days’ time and DaMarcus Beasley and Young-Pyo Lee have not arrived in Holland yet. Another training session has been scheduled for tomorrow morning, as usual at ten o'clock.
