PSV have collected the first win in the pres-season campaign. They collected a narrow 1-0 victory over the Korea University All Stars in the Incheon World Cup Stadium. Robert scored the only goal of the match on the stroke of half time. Mung-Bo HongContrary to what the name suggests, PSV did not meet a team of students or young talented players. The Korea University is celebrating its one hundredth anniversary this year and an experienced side had been called up in honour of the celebrations. All players are professional players in the Korean K-League. Actually five international players and eight former internationals were fielded on the pitch. Even Mung-Bo Hong, who is generally regarded as the best Korean football player of all times, was included in the starting XI. Guus Hiddink made the popular player, who has retired by now, captain of the national team at the 2002 World Cup. He was in the service of LA Galaxy in the United States of American in his final season and his still loved by the crowd.Coach Bum-Keun Cha, who reaped fame in the German Bundesliga and his son Du-Ri Cha, who has won many caps for his country, also made an appearance. World Cup memoriesSo, not surprisingly, bearing in mind the strong team, the Korean team fought out an equal contest with PSV. The Eindhoven team, who had resumed training recently, did not dig deep yet, but the hosts created quite a few chances both in the first half and the second period. One shot just went over the bar and Edwin Zoetebier had to stretch full length to push away an effort in the closing stages. Some 30, 000 spectators in Incheon had a marvelous time. The crowd behind one of the goals was coloured all-red and it brought back happy memories of the World Cup, three years ago. The fans were singing and dancing fanatically and every touch of the ball was welcomed enthusiastically. PSV may meet one player again during the Peace Cup tournament: Jin-Sub Park who is a player of Seong Nam, the first opponent PSV will face in the tournament. Robert goalPSV broke the deadlock just before half time. Robert collected a pass on the edge of the area and blasted home; 0-1. The Koreans earned a few chances, but they could not cancel out the deficit. PSV brought on the accustomed string of substitutes at the restart. Timmy Simons (who was handed the captain’s armband at his debut), Gerald Sibon and Guy Dufour were taken off and Young-Pyo Lee, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (captain in the second half) and Ismail Aissati, respectively, left the bench to replace them. Later on Jefferson Farfán came on for Roy Beerens and Alex replaced the Fin Mika Väyrynen. PSV line-up:Zoetebier, Fehér, Lamey, Addo, Ferreyra, Simons (Aisatti), Väyrynen (Alex), Dufour (Lee), Beerens (Farfán), Sibon (Vennegoor of Hesselink) and Robert.Substitutes: Coe, Alex, Lee, Farfán, Vennegoor of Hesselink, Aisatti.
