DaMarcus Beasley has joined the PSV squad again. The American was one of the players of Team USA that took part in the Gold Cup tournament the past few weeks. The Americans beat Panama in the championship game, after taking penalties. Golden shoeThe forward was back at the PSV De Herdgang ground for a brief visit. Beasley left for his native country a few days before the Amstel Cup final in order to rehabilitate from a serious knee injury that he had sustained in a domestic league game. He joined the squad of the American national team to prepare for two World Cup qualifying games. After a short holiday, Beasley started the Gold Cup tournament campaign. Last Sunday the United States of America won the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup (the championship of North America and Central America) for the third time in a row by beating Panama. Penalty kicks had to be taken to get a result, as neither team had managed to break the deadlock during official time and extra time. DaMarcus Beasley was named to the Gold Cup all-tournament team and was also awarded the Golden Shoe. He was in great shape: he netted three goals and gave four assists. Beasley did not make an appearance on the training pitch on Tuesday morning, as he had picked up a minor hamstring injury in the Gold Cup final.Striker"Our coach had called up some new players, so at first it was taking some getting used to, but after a while things went smoothly", explained Beasley, who was played as a striker in a 3-4-3 system. "My knee felt fine and I’ve gained a lot of confidence during the games with the national team. We played a good tournament and it was great to win the Cup. I’m now facing a minor hamstring problem. I hope to be back on the training pitch in a week’s time. It’s good to be back in Eindhoven. I’m looking forward to joining my team mates in the pre-season preparations and making an impact at the start of the new season." The reunion with his team mates Tuesday morning was very warm. Beasley made the acquaintance of the new players and asked his team mates how they had been doing in South Korea.
