For the second time in a row PSV forward DaMarcus Beasley is one of the three finalists of the Honda Player of the Year Award. The name of the best player of the American national team will be announced on 30 November next. Beasley was one of the most valuable players at the Gold Cup tournament last summer. He scored four goals, including two in the quarter finals. The USA eventually were the winners of this tournament. Another player nominated by over 200 American sports writers is 23-year-old Landon Donovan, darling of the crowd, who is a three-time winner of the Honda Award. Donovan won the Award last year. The third nominee is goalkeeper Kasey Keller, who won the Award six years ago. He kept five blank sheets during the World Cup qualifying campaign. The performances of the Americans with their own clubs have not been taken into account. They have been judged for their achievements with the national team. Beasley has been a regular in Team USA for many years.
