Romário has scored his first two goals for his new club Miami FC, who earned their first victory in USL First Division history as they beat the Portland Timbers 3-2. The Brazilian striker headed home the winning goal one minute from final time. Romário has now taken his all-time career tally to 969 goals. The former PSV striker has completed a loan deal with Miami FC that compete in the USL First Division, together with clubs from the United States of America, Canada and the Caribbean. Romário intends to score some twenty-five more goals during his spell with Miami FC and then return to his club Vasco da Gama in Rio where he hopes to score his one thousandth goal. He had not been able to find the net for Miami in a home game before, but the 40-year old striker scored a trademark double last Friday night. The Portland Timbers visitors took an early lead in the Miami Tropical Park Stadium, but Romário netted the equalizer five minutes later. Mario ‘El Loco’ Rodriguez delivered the cross and Romário controlled the ball with his chest before putting it into the net. When Portland had scored 2-2 from a penalty kick, Romário de Souza Faria made sure of the first win ever of his new club by superbly heading home the winning goal in the 89th minute after all. Miami FC play at home again on Sunday night and Romário will be given another opportunity to score goals.
