Make sure you will be wearing the right shirt! PSV have launched the new home kit that the players will be wearing the next two seasons. It is based on a traditional PSV outfit worn during the fifties of the previous century, with all the classical features, but some up-to-date features have been added as well. IntroductionThe past few years PSV traditionally introduced their new home and away kit at their last official fixture of the season, but as PSV were the visiting team at the Cup final clash with Ajax, they were unable to do this season. PSV were not involved in the play-off games, either, so there was no opportunity to show the new kit yet. That’s why PSV have decided to introduce the new kit in this way, so that everybody will get a chance to see the new strip the players will be wearing the next two seasons. We feel it is a shirt to be proud of!Brainstorming sessionPSV and Nike thought it would be a good idea to ask fans for their opinion on the new home strip. Representatives of PSV Fans United and the PSV Supporters Association acted as a sounding board. The new design has been realized during brainstorming sessions with a Nike design team, members of the technical staff, players and representatives of the Merchandising department", explains PSV Manager Merchandising Arne van Breugel. Coen DillenDuring the brainstorming sessions the wish was expressed to launch a new kit based on the PSV outfit worn during the fifties of the previous century by icons like legendary goalgetter Coen Dillen. The main features are red-white stripes in the traditional proportions (three red stripes and four white ones), the red collar and completely black shorts and of course the red-white striped socks."Red-white stripes are to be found on the back of the shirt below the number. Above the number the shirt is completely red, so that UEFA requirements as far as visibility is concerned will be met”, announced Van Breugel, who emphasizes the club is very proud of their new home kit. "There is definitely an historic effect and yet is looks trendy as well.”
