The atmosphere ahead of the Thursday morning training session was informal and quite relaxed, with Koeman and Bruins Slot shaking a great many hands and saying goodbye to the board of directors, PSV officials and PSV Chairman Schuitema. They had a final cup of coffee, while everybody wished them all the best in Spain.
Jan Wouters, Anton Janssen and Luc Nilis supervised the training session that started at 10:30. One hour before, Koeman and his assistant Bruins Slot, who had been with PSV since the summer of 2006, bade a fond farewell to the players in the seclusion of the dressing room. A host of photographers and reporters were waiting outside when Koeman left De Herdgang training centre at about eleven o'clock. On Friday morning Koeman flies to Spain, where he will be unveiled as new boss at Valencia at 1 p.m.
