Schalke 04 coach Ralf Rangnick stated at the post-match press conference that his side deserved the 3-0 win. PSV Guus Hiddink thought "the game was decided by some silly moments". Schalke manager Rudi Assauer, drinking a cup of coffee and smoking a large cigar, was looking on attentively, when Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick started to review the game. "We deserved to win, although we gave away too much space when we 1-0 up. Then we earned some chances, but after the restart PSV threatened again at times. When we had weathered that storm, we got opportunities ourselves. We were entitled to win the game." "We suffered defeat in a game that was decided by some silly moments", felt Guus Hiddink at the press conference. "The first penalty was justified. Robert created one opportunity in the first period. We conceded the second goal in a clumsy manner. Then we took risks by fielding four strikers", said Hiddink. The consequence of this defeat is that PSV need a win when they take on Fenerbahçe on 6 December. Hiddink knew that things were not over yet. There is still everything to play for and thats why he referred to the defeat as 'acceptable'. "But we are not the best goal scoring side in group E and thats an understatement. It would have been great if we had scored a goal tonight. Schalke were pushed back after the break, but then we didnt take our chances."Two players did not come through the game unscathed. Jefferson Farfán picked up a knock on his shin and Phillip Cocu has a bruised knee.
