Sadness, grief, deliberation, nerves, team spirit and ecstatic joy: PSV said farewell to devoted PSV and icon of the town of Eindhoven Frits Philips on a night when many emotions alternated with each other. Emotional moments galorePrior to the game, Guus Meeuwis sang a sing on the pitch the song The road, a modest and subdued song, which he dedicated to Frits Philips. PSV Chairman Rob Westerhof made a short speech, while standing beside the seat that would be taken by Mister Frits.All spectators raised the match programme, called PSV Flits, which had been produced in such a format that it could be unfolded, to honour Frits Philip and the entire stadium was coloured red and white.An impressive minutes silence was observed. The PSV players wore black armbands and battled for every inch of ground. There were emotional moments galore in the Philips Stadium, on the-never- to-be- forgotten night of 6 December 2005.
