Olympique Lyon scored a low mark in the French league last night.. The opponents of PSV in the Champions League first knock out round suffered a 1-3 defeat at home against Lille.Just like Lyon, Lille competed in the Champions League group stages. They were third in their group behind Villarreal and Benfica, but above Manchester United. Lille are not having the greatest of seasons and occupy a safe, mid-table position in the domestic league. But Lille pulled off a shock result on their trip to leaders Lyon. The Nigerian Peter Odemwingie put his team on top on only nine minutes. The second half was thrilling. Mathieu Debuchy doubled the advantage for the visitors, but Sidney Govou pulled one back and Lyon were given some hope. Yet the hosts could not avert a defeat, as Stéphane Dumont wrapped up things two minutes later. In spite of the defeat they suffered, Lyon maintain their leading position in the French league by a wide margin. Even if runners-up AJ Auxerre enjoy victory on Saturday, Lyon will still have a nine-point lead.
