The Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, His Excellency Mr Stephen Brady, has received Guus Hiddink with open arms in his official residence in order to congratulate him on the participation in the World Cup 2006 in Germany. He also handed him a present. The Socceroos qualified for their first World Cup finals for 32 years. In order to wish him luck, Mr Brady presented Guus Hiddink a so-called Driza-Bone, a characteristic Australian horsemans coat. During their meeting the ambassador and the PSV head coach discussed the World Cup 2006 preparations, the similarities and differences between the Australian and Dutch culture and the forthcoming Royal Gala Dinner party on 30 January. The Royal Gala Dinner party in the Ridderzaal will be the official start of the festive commemoration of 400 years of good relations between Australia and the Netherlands. Guus Hiddink is one of the prominent Dutch sportsmen that will attend this event. Inge de Bruijn, Pieter van den Hoogenband and Erica Terpstra will also put in an appearance. A number of Australian athletes, among whom Dawn Fraser, who won multiple championship titles, will attend the dinner party in order to provide a link to the cultures of both countries.
