Guus Hiddink announced at the post-match press conference that PSV had put in a spirited performance against ADO Den Haag (0-2) and he praised his team for the dedication and commitment that they had shown. FC Den Haag head coach Frans Adelaar felt he could not blame his side at all. "ADO Den Haag showed dedication as well. By playing long balls they tried to put us under pressure. On a pitch like this a ball may get an odd bounce, so I think they had drawn up a clever match plan", explained Guus Hiddink. "We soon realized we had to put in a physical game ourselves. We hardly conceded anything before the break and we earned a few opportunities, but, apart from Phillip Cocu, we did not create any clear-cut chances. After the interval we upped a gear in order to make the difference. All in all we put in a spirited display and played a good game of football at times under these difficult circumstances. We have earned an excellent win and grabbed three precious points", concluded the PSV head coach. "Can't blame them"ADO coach Frans Adelaar explained why he wanted his team to play a physical and opportunistic game of football. "We have made proper use of the hard circumstances and played spiritedly and passionately. I can’t possibly blame my players. PSV were lethal, when we were out of position or lost possession. We had not conceded anything and yet they suddenly opened the scoring. Luck was not on our side when Rzasa only rattled the bar. It was too bad they made it 0-1, because we then realized it was all over. We played in opportunistic fashion and I am happy with the way my team has performed and I think they deserve credit for their dedication", said Adelaar.
