The national team of Ivory Coast, who had given a place to PSV striker Arouna Koné in their starting line-up, has reached the Africa Cup semi finals. The match against Cameroon ended stalemate when official time was over. Both sides scored one goal in extra time and Ivory Coast eventually beat Cameroon 12-11 in a nerve-racking penalty shoot out.Arouna Koné was involved in the opening goal that was scored two minutes into extra time. Koné hit the bar and his namesake, substitute Bakari Koné, pounced on the rebound; 1-0. Five minutes later Albert Ze Meyong scored the equalizer for Cameroon. Players from both sides succeeded in converting from the spot with their first eleven penalties in an exciting and exhausting penalty shoot out. So Arouna Koné managed to find the net as well. Things took a dramatic turn for Cameroon, when Eto’o, of all players, blasted his second spot kick over the bar. Didier Drogba did not fail and the Elephants had progressed to the semi finals. It will now take a while before Arouna Koné reports back for duty with PSV.
