Former professional football player and entrepreneur Bryan Roy has recently launched a series of football players under the name '3D-Stars'. He was at De Herdgang training base to present PSV defender Alex the first specimen of the lifelike figure of the Brazilian. European stars, such as Maldini, Kakà, Gerrard and Makaay have all been included in the Soccer Series 1. Feyenoord striker Kuyt, Ajax midfielder Sneijder and PSV centre back Alex are the players of Dutch top clubs that have been selected. The figures are 15 centimetres tall, wear their current club outfit and are presented in a characteristic pose. Alex was given the first specimen of his figure and he was impressed. He said he was delighted to have been selected as 3D-Star. A comparison was made with the figure of Inter player Adriano, a country fellow of Alex. "But I am handsomer than he is", joked Alex. Roy got a bit of a fright when he saw Alex in person. "My word, you are big. I am so glad I dont make appearances any longer!" Bryan Roy was inspired by the idea of launching the 3D-Stars, when he saw his boys next door play with miniature figures North-American NHL stars. The figures of American football players, basketball players and baseball players are the latest craze in the USA."I immediately realized this was a great idea, explained Roy. "I wanted to develop myself and start to take some business initiatives. I approached the three big clubs in Holland and they liked my ideas very much indeed. But then I thought: if we do it, we had better do it in a European context. We have been to all top sides and they all thought it was a great idea. We put two players on the market of each club, one in September and the other in February." Roy announced that the next PSV player will be captain Phillip Cocu.
