Guus Hiddink has named a twenty-man provisional squad for Saturday night’s domestic league game, away against Ajax. The Champions League adventure is over and PSV will now focus on the final stages of the current campaign. Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink"Now that we have been eliminated from the Champions League, we will attempt to end the season in style. We have surpassed all expectations and will try to maintain the leading position in the Dutch league", told Guus Hiddink reporters at the weekly media briefing at De Herdgang training base. "All players have come through the midweek tie unscathed. We will have to wait and see how Michael Lamey responds to the training session. The same goes for Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. He has been doing pretty well at training. We will see tomorrow whether he has recovered adequately. We have made him work hard and he has practised finishing on target in explosive fashion. He may be included in the starting XI, just like Michael Lamey."AjaxTwenty players will make the trip to Amsterdam, including youngster Roy Beerens, two of whom them will be dropped from the final squad. Hiddink refers to the Ajax clash as 'fairly crucial'. "We will take a major step, if we manage to pull off a result. We have a seven-point cushion, but in previous seasons we have learnt that ‘some leapfrogging’ may take place in the closing stages of the campaign. Ajax have meanwhile gained confidence, following a morale-boosting run. But we are to make the next move." The game in the Amsterdam ArenA kicks off at 19.30 pm.
