The crowd in the Eindhoven Philips Stadium has said goodbye to PSV head coach Guus Hiddink and his assistants Fred Rutten and René Eijkelkamp, after the home game against Feyenoord (1-1). There was a light show and a musical performance, before the three of them did a lap of honour. All 34, 000 spectators had been given a lightstick when they entered the stadium. Straight after the game, all the lights in the stadium were turned down. The players went back to the dressing room and returned to the pitch minutes later to thank the technical staff and say goodbye to them in front of their faithful home fans. A film with highlights of the career of Hiddink was shown, PSV Chairman Westerhof made a speech full of praise for the technical staff, the supporters’ association offered presents and then Ernst Daniël Schmidt, one of Hiddink’s favourite singers, sang a beautiful song. Amigos para siempre"I don't know what it means to say goodbye", started Hiddink his short farewell speech. "I hope to pay a visit here shortly or some time later. Thank you so much."While the songs 'Amigos para siempre' (friends for ever) and 'You never walk alone' were being played, the three coaches of the technical staff did a lap of honour. It was dark while the crowd searched for the coaches with their light sticks. They will be in charge at three more games: at the away fixture against NAC Breda next Sunday afternoon, at the memorial game in Halle and of course at the Cup final against Ajax in the Rotterdam Kuip on 7 May.
