PSV defender Eric Addo has been called up for the squad of the national team of Ghana, who play a friendly against Bundesliga club Vfb Stuttgart next Wednesday. The game will be played in Wurzburg, where the American national team will stay during the World Cup 2006. Addo is in Mallorca, where the PSV first team squad have a training camp, but he will make an appearance in Germany on Wednesday. Coach Ratomir Dujkovic wants to see the players of his squad that play their trade in the European leagues in action. Addo stands a fair chance of being called up for the final World Cup squad, because of the fine performances that he has put in for PSV. The names of the players of the definitive squad will have to be announced on Monday 15 May next. Addo was often played in the heart of the PSV defence this season, where he sometimes filled in for André Ooijer. He recently signed a one-year contract extension with PSV. If Addo is named for the squad that will take part in the World Cup 2006, yet another international player will represent PSV at the highest level. Ghana will meet tough opponents in their group E: Italy, the Czech Republic and the United States of America, who may call up PSV forward DaMarcus Beasley. The VfB Stuttgart-Ghana friendly will be kicked off on Wednesday at 18.00 pm.
