Title contenders Young AZ enjoyed a 1-3 win over their PSV counterparts at De Herdgang training base last night. The visitors, coached by Jan Nederburgh, were reduced to ten men on 73 minutes, following the dismissal of Mitchell Kappenberg. Young AZ were already 1-3 on top, when Kappenberg was shown his second yellow card. Rob van Boekel gave Young PSV the lead on eleven minutes. PSV fielded a few junior players, as coach Ernest Faber had to do without the services of Roy Beerens, Juan Carlos Carrizo, Lee Nguyen and Pepe Plá on Monday night. International Martijn Meerdink and AZ first team regulars Haris Medunjanin, Tarik Sektioui and Demy de Zeeuw were included in the Young AZ starting line up. Meerdink leveled the score on thirty minutes. After the break AZ wrapped up the game after Jeremain Lens (56') and Sektioui (62') had found the net. The champions in this league will not be crowned until the last match day, as Young Feyenoord also earned a win. Young Feyenoord will be on the road to FC Utrecht on 1 May, when AZ take on Young Vitesse. Young PSV will meet Young sc Heerenveen for their last fixture of the campaign.
