The numbers 1 of each group will be drawn to a team that is second in another group. Moreover the numbers 1 will first play an away game.PSV need one point when they meet Panathinaikos FC in Athens on Tuesday 7 December in order to stay on top of their group. In that case PSV will have collected eleven points, enough to stay first. Should PSV fail to beat Panathinaikos once again, they are obviously dependent on the result of the Arsenal FC - Rosenborg BK. When Arsenal, win, PSV will be second in their group, because of Arsenal's superior head-to-head record. When Arsenal draw with Rosenborg at Highbury or, worse, lose, PSV will be the group winners, regardless the final score in their own game. Rosenborg SK have no chance of playing European football in spring any more.PSV collected ten points from their six group games last season, but had content themselves with playing UEFA Cup football.
