André Ooijer has signed a two-year deal at Ewood Park. Premier League club Blackburn Rovers announced the news after Ooijer had completed a medical on Wednesday. 'A warm club'André Ooijer becomes Mark Hughes' fifth summer signing joining Jason Brown, Francis Jeffers, Jason Roberts and Benni McCarthy at the club. "I'm very happy to be here and looking forward to playing here", the 32-year-old international told Blackburn's official website. "I wanted to move on and further my career and I think it is a good step for me to be here. When a club like Blackburn came in for me, it was a simple choice for me, I heard a lot from other players that Blackburn was a warm club, it sounded like my former club PSV. I spoke to Ruud van Nistelrooy and he was very positive and I can hardly wait to begin here."The player will wear squad number 20. Blackburn Rovers were founded in 1875 and are one of the oldest clubs in England. Blackburn won the Premier League title in 1995. The Lancashire club also won the FA Cup six times and the League Cup once.299 league appearancesThe move of the defender who has represented the Netherlands on 24 occasions, including this summer's World Cup in Germany, from PSV to Blackburn was far from smooth, after things had been at a deadlock for some time. The player reported ill as he ‘felt incapable of playing’ for the ruling Dutch champions against N.E.C. last Sunday, missing an opportunity to make his 300th Eredivisie appearance. He scored 19 goals for PSV from 192 league games.
