Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink proved to be of added value to his new club Celtic during the past two league games by scoring a goal in each game. 'Tall Jan' scored another goal in a European contest last night.Dream startCeltic had a dream start in UEFA Champions League tournament’s The Battle of Britain clash at Old Trafford against Manchester United, when Vennegoor put them ahead on 21 minutes. United were then given a controversial penalty and Saha leveled the score from the spot. The French striker fired home a second goal, after Paul Scholes had found him. Shunsuke Nakamura scored an equaliser on the stroke of half time from a brilliantly struck free-kick. Straight after the break substitute Ole Gunnar Solskjær made sure of a 3-2 victory, by tapping the ball home from close range. Ruud van NistelrooyRuud van Nistelrooy made the trip with Real Madrid to Lyon to play Olympique Lyon, the team that eliminated PSV from last season’s Champions League campaign. The French champions earned a richly-deserved 2-0 win over Real Madrid CF, just like they did on last season’s opening day. The Spaniards should be glad Lyon only scored two first-half goals in Stade de Gerland in Lyon on Wednesday night. Fred and Tiago had their names on the score sheet. Real Madrid tried to pull one goal back in the closing stages, but Van Nistelrooy only hit the side netting.
