Van Bommel back in Dutch squad (PSV.nl)

Marco van Basten has named a 22-man-squad for the Euro 2008 qualifying matches against Bulgaria and Albania. One of them is FC Bayern München midfielder Mark van Bommel, whom Van Basten has quite unexpectedly recalled. Two qualifying gamesThe Dutch national team meet Bulgaria in Sofia on 7 October before playing host to Albania in the Amsterdam ArenA four days later. Van Bommel was dropped from the Dutch squad along with Ruud van Nistelrooy for the opening qualifying matches against Luxembourg and Belarus and Van Basten announced that they would not be called up any more. Mark van Bommel responded by saying he would never call any coach of the Dutch team to tell him that he didn’t want to play international games anymore. The 29-year-old midfielder is a regular with FC Bayern München. He scored two league goals and also found the net in a Champions League tie.
