John de Jong told PSV Media this morning that he will not join his team mates for training before 6 January 2005. De Jong is still rehabilitating from a knee injury that he picked up in the Ajax clash on 24 October last."I will join the squad during the winter break. I could be fit for the crucial Feyenoord encounter, but that might also result into being sidelined again for some seven, eight weeks. That’s why I prefer to recuperate first at ease in order to be fully fit after the winter break", announced De Jong, while he was at work on a home trainer in the gym of the PSV training round De Herdgang. "The cartilage is bruised. I am recovering well from a tear in the knee." Apart from a knee injury, De Jong is having another problem. "A piece of bone in my foot has come loose and will be extracted next week. I could make an appearance in the week where we travel to Feyenoord and play hosts to Roda JC, but actually it is pretty useless. We are on schedule and I just want to carry on. I have been able to train well and have been outside on the pitch every other day."De Jong is obviously sick and tired that the original diagnose predicted a shorter recuperation period. "Yes, of course I’m fed up. But the team spirit is one of the strong points of our squad. The results are fine and I will keep on working hard to make a successful comeback", John de Jong concluded.
