PSV coach Ronald Koeman was very happy with the result. At the post match press conference in Istanbul he announced that PSV had been doing very well. “We have won two Champions League away games in succession and feel we can qualify for the knock-out stages.” "We found it hard to cope with the aggressive way they played football in the initial stages and the hard wind may have had an impact as well. We could not keep possession long and only after twenty minutes we were able to pass the ball around. They showed more aggression. We started to threaten at the end of the first period and continued to do so after the break. We put on pressure and they got tired. We held on in the closing stages, when Gomes pulled off a super save."Arouna KonéKoeman was obviously delighted with Arouna Koné's winning goal. "He has been outstanding the past few weeks, but as a striker he will be judged by his ability to score goals. He is absolute welcome to it. I hope he will now improve his scoring prowess. He is quick, strong and shows great technical skills. It’s great he has been rewarded for his hard work." Third spotGalatasaray coach Erik Gerets announced at the post-match press conference that his side’s hopes of reaching a place in the knockout stages have been hugely dented. “We must now focus on the third spot, so we will be allowed to play European football after the winter break as well. And we want to climb up the table in the Turkish league, as we have not been doing well lately."He also spoke up for his goalkeeper, who made a dreadful error, when Jan Kromkamp fired an effort through his legs. "I thought it was great that my players went up to him in the dressing room and tried to comfort him and cheer him up. They made it clear to him that things like that will happen in football. You can take it from me that he was devastated."
