PSV went on a morale-boosting goal-scoring spree in an entertaining game, thrashing Sparta 7-0. Koné and Farfán scored first half doubles and after the interval Reiziger, Koné and Simons PSV took care of a fine goal differenceFine runRonald Koeman’s team continued their fine October run, after they had seen off Roda JC, Galatasaray and AZ before. The game quickly developed into a one-sided affair. After the break the hosts struggled with the pace of the game, but finished in style. PSV, who have scored sixteen goals and conceded only two goals in their last four games, will be next in action on Saturday night, when they take RKC Waalwijk, most likely with feelings of confidence. Koné and FarfánThe Rotterdam outfit, who stay rooted to the bottom of the table, having managed just one draw, were outclassed by PSV from start to finish. Only four minutes were on the clock when Cocu picked out Arouna Koné, who scored the opening goal. The striker, who is in confident mood, found the net for the third game in a row. Ibrahim Afellay created two chances before Jefferson Farfán made his mark. First he converted a penalty on twenty minutes, after he had been fouled in the box and when Oost had earned an opportunity, the Peruvian striker took his season’s tally to five goals, after finishing a good counter attack with a superb solo run: 3-0. Koné doubleBut there was more to come: Farfán had failed to take three opportunities to score a hat trick, when Arouna Koné netted his second goal of the night. Afellay delivered the cross. Three second-half goalsThe game had obviously been wrapped up and with a four goal cushion PSV took their foot off the pedal after the break. The rain came pouring down and the surface of the rain-soaked pitch gradually became slippery. Sparta coach Vloet did not fancy being hammered, so Sparta played many men behind the ball. Koeman made three substitutions: Cocu out, Aissati in; Mendez was taken off , Culina brought on and Väyrynen left the bench to replace Afellay. The Fin Väyrynen had only been on the pitch for one minute, when he showed a display of fine artistry. The ball fell to Michael Reiziger, who opened his scoring account for PSV. A few minutes later PSV made it six, when Farfán finished a solo run. Aissati was fouled in the area in injury time and Simons ended the rout from the spot.
