PSV head coach Ronald Koeman claimed at the post-match press conference in the Gelredome on Thursday night that PSV had enjoyed a 'comfortable win' over Vitesse. "The win seems to confirm we are on the right track." "During the first thirty minutes it was a game of football between two well-matched teams", started Koeman his analysis. "And yet we were 2-0 up in no time. We leaned back far too much after the break. Vitesse took more risks and created some chances. If Vitesse had reduced the deficit, the game might have gone their way. We made some substitutions and increased the pressure. So all in all we enjoyed a comfortable win, but should not forget we survived some scares. Things will be all right, if we keep on working hard”, concluded Koeman. Vitesse coach Aad de Mos thought his team had played well the first twenty minutes. "We faced a tough challenge, as it hard to create chances against this quality side. I have seen PSV in action lots of times, live and on TV, and I don’t think any team has created as many chances as we did tonight. But Vitesse showed a serious defect: we clumsily conceded some soft goals. I told my players at half time to put up the pressure again after the break. But then you need a bit of luck too. Benson had a good chance blocked by Salcido. If you haven’t seen the game and just look at the final score, you might think we have been outclassed. But I take responsibility for the third and fourth goal, as I told my players to go forward. I think PSV did not have to dig deep to pull off this result, so they deserve credit for their performance tonight”, said De Mos.
