Ronald Koeman has no selection worries, ahead of Saturday’s Eredivisie game, at home against FC Groningen (kick off at 19:30). The PSV head coach has an almost full-strength squad to choose from, with the return to fitness of Jefferson Farfán, Ibrahim Afellay and Alcides. Koeman said at the weekly media briefing that Farfán might be included in the PSV starting line-up.
Koeman has not called up the injured trio John de Jong, Csaba Fehér and Michael Reiziger to his eighteen-man squad. Koeman is not willing to unduly put pressure on De Jong. “He has returned to full training, but we will first see how he recovers and do not want to put any pressure on him.” Jefferson Farfán’s comeback boosts Koeman’s attacking options. “I believe that I will include him in the game against FC Groningen, as there not that many options left. I wish he could have trained a few more times, though.”
Patrick Kluivert is not available for Saturday night’s game. “He is suffering from back pain and may return to light training next week.” Koeman was happy with the return to full fitness of midfielder Ibrahim Afellay and defender Alcides. Koeman did not beat about the bush, when asked to comment on Diego Tardelli, who started against Arsenal. “Tardelli has worked harder than ever before, but did not meet expectations once he was in possession of the ball. He is certainly making progress, but the question is whether he will be good enough to be offered a contract. We still have plenty of time to take a decision.”
