<L CODE="C01">Alex</L> will be out for at least six weeks, after an MRI scan in Monday confirmed that the defender has torn a hamstring muscle. The Brazilian will miss next Sunday’s domestic clash with Ajax and the two Champions League quarter-final ties against Liverpool next month.
In a few weeks Alex will undergo a further examination to assess the injury, after which he will start a rehabilitation programme. Alex sustained the injury during Sunday afternoon’s goalless draw against Excelsior at Woudestein, as he went to make a pass just before half-time. He was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and PSV head coach Ronald Koeman already assumed the Brazilian international had a hamstring tear.
