Ronald Koeman is pretty optimistic about the physical condition of <L CODE="C01">Heurelho da Silva Gomes</L>. The Brazilian goalkeeper will face a late test on Saturday, before the PSV head coach takes any decision. Koeman has named a nineteen-man squad for the game against Ajax, with goalkeeper <L CODE="C02">Ruud Boffin</L> acting as back-up.
19-year-old defender <L CODE="C03">Dirk Marcellis</L> has been called up to the squad again, with Alex rehabilitating in Brazil from a hamstring injury. Ronald Koeman informed media representatives that Gomes and <L CODE="C04">Patrick Kluivert</L> are doubtful for Sunday afternoonâs clash.
âThey will face late fitness tests. If Gomes is fit enough to play, he will start. If he is not, he wonât start. But I am optimistic about his return.â Koeman will not take a decision until after Saturdayâs training session. The same goes for Patrick Kluivert, who is anxious to meet his former team mates. âHe has resumed full training and I have read somewhere he is ready for the clash. I told him that I like natural born optimists a lot.â
âItâs hard to predict what the game will look like. Weâll just have to wait and seeâ, was Koemanâs comment on the tie that could prove decisive in this season's title race. âI donât think we feel any undue pressure. We have an eight-point lead, so I suppose the pressure is on Ajax. And I donât know how to answer âwhat ifâ questions. We all know that peopleâs moods in Amsterdam change rather quickly. They will travel to Eindhoven feeling confident following last weekendâs fine 4-1 win over FC Twente, but are bound to find out that PSV are hard to beat.â
