PSV head coach Ronald Koeman has included goalkeeper Gomes in PSV’s starting line-up for Sunday afternoon’s encounter with Ajax at the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven. The Brazilian stopper, who was slightly doubtful for the clash with third-placed Ajax, has passed a fitness test and will consequently start. Patrick Kluivert, who has joined up with his team mates at training last week, will start on the bench.
Captain Cocu, Afellay, Simons, Culina and Mendez will play in midfield, while Alcides, Da Costa, Salcido and Sun play in defence. PSV meet Ajax for the third time this season. The Amsterdam outfit lifted the Johan Cruijff Shield at the start of the 2006-2006 campaign, but PSV enjoyed a 1-0 win in this season’s reverse league encounter, thanks to a header from Timmy Simons. PSV hold an eight-point cushion over Ajax and would take a major step towards the Eredivisie title if they saw off their rivals from Amsterdam this afternoon.
