Jefferson Farfán (Peru), Jason Culina (Australia) and Xiang Sun (China) will not be away on international duty this week. The three PSV players are suffering complaints and will consequently stay in Eindhoven for treatment. All the other PSV players that have been called up for their national squads to play internationals will be away.
Xiang Sun was taken off during yesterday’s game against Ajax as he had picked up a knee injury. He will undergo examination today. China play two friendlies against Australia and Uzbekistan, respectively. Jason Culina is troubled by a strained stomach muscle and has been suffering from groin problems for a while, so he will not join up with the Socceroos for their friendly with China. Jefferson Farfán has a hamstring problem and will not make the trip with the Peruvian team to Yokohama in Japan, where Peru face Japan in a friendly. Today the players of the PSV first-team squad will have a cooling down session or be on the treatment table. They will also train tomorrow, while several players will be away on international duty. Eric Addo has been called up to the Ghana squad to face Brazil and Austria. Although Timmy Simons serves a suspension, the midfielder will join up with his Belgian team mates to see them in action when they play Portugal in a Euro 2008 qualifying game. He will meet Portuguese defender Manuel da Costa who will also make an appearance with Portugal later this week against Serbia. Carlos Salcido has been called up to the Mexican squad for the fixture Mexico v Paraguay and will then travel on to San Francisco, where Mexico play Ecuador, who may field Edison Mendez. The latter may also start a game in Tampa in Florida. Mika Väyrynen has been called into the Finland squad for their Euro 2008 qualifier against Azerbaijan. Ibrahim Afellay has received his first Netherlands call-up for the double header with Romania next Saturday and Slovenia on 28 March. Arouna Koné (knee) and Alex (hamstring) were also called up, but were obviously forced to withdraw.
